I printed a guide to catan’s scenario’s, which can be found here and transformed it into a book. I used my new fancy gold foil to decorate the cover. Bound using the classic German binding, quarter cloth. 1 bookmark ribbon and 1 extra plastic information sheet.

/Portfolio: Hanneke’s babydiary

Written by Marenne on August 23rd, 2011 | no comments

I made a diary for Hanneke to write down all her pregnancy adventures. She picked the paper, I matched the binding style to it. The book was bound on chords made out of twirled flax wire, incorporated into the covers. The spine of each signatures has a small piece of colored paper for decoration and thickening (because she’ll paste things into the book as well).

/Portfolio: Egypt Books

Written by Marenne on June 12th, 2011 | one comment

For these books, I tried a new method where I transferred my design on book binders-cloth and decorated this with reflective golden paper. This is also my first diagonal Coptic Binding. The images on the covers are made out of several digital images combined and collected into my own image. The right bottom corner of the pages have Old Egyptian symbols printed on them. These books were bound using the diagonal Coptic binding. The covers are made of bookbinderscloth with a printed design and gold paper. The book-block was made of colored paper with on each right corner a small old Egyptian symbol.
